<p>This session will take an in-depth look into the Business Data Catalog (BDC) with Microsoft SQL Server. It will include an overview of the Business Data Catalog, an introduction to configuring  the BDC, and a demonstration of integrating the BDC with list forms.</p>
<p>During this meeting we will also share firsthand information and experience around the value of the Microsoft Certified Master program. These programs offer the top tier technical training and certifications available from Microsoft and will highlight the program in three areas including training, certification and networking.</p>
<p>Session presented by Tom Resing. Tom is a current Microsoft Certified Master in SharePoint Candidate. He is passionate about online collaboration technologies and loves being active in the SharePoint Community. Tom has been blogging about SharePoint for the last 2 ½ years after certifying on the 2007 platform. </p>

<p>Sid Atkinson, Sr. Lead Consultant, Catapult Systems, will provide an overview of the great new Business Intelligence features of SharePoint 2010. </p>
<p>This session will cover the Insights Business Intelligence platform in SharePoint 2010.  Microsoft made a significant investment in BI and has made available a broad range of tools and applications to service reporting and analytical needs.  In this session we will cover enhancements to Reporting Services and its integration with SharePoint, Report Builder, Excel Services, PowerPivot and PerformancePoint Services.  Time permitting, we will also briefly cover Access and Visio Services and its impact on the BI space within the context of SharePoint 2010. </p>

<p>Are you confused with how to change the user interface in SharePoint? Do you have concerns about how to go about making those changes? If so, then come to the August 12th meeting where Heather Solomon will be answering any SharePoint branding questions you have and discuss common issues you may have encountered.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.heathersolomon.com/" target="_blank">Heather Solomon</a> is the Director of Creative Services at SharePoint Experts, Inc. and author/trainer of the SharePoint Branding Bootcamp. She will highlight a diagram, demo and pros/cons of a SharePoint branding method. She will also share with the members ‘real life&#8217; experiences and discuss the best methods to implement for your site.</p>
<p>Key topics will include SharePoint master pages, content pages, page layouts, themes and SharePoint CSS. Heather brings her experience with WCM and will discuss how to make your publishing sites great resources for your end users. This will be an interactive session with Heather to discuss all your SharePoint branding questions! So don&#8217;t forget to bring your questions to the meeting!</p>

<p>The Nielsen Norman Group Report: Intranet Design Annual 2009: Year&#8217;s Ten Best Intranets was awarded to Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a developer of computer and graphics processors, for their intranet. This intranet, based on SharePoint, was designed for enterprise organization with large amounts of documents and mission-critical applications. Come join the team responsible for this incredible intranet and walk away with lessons learned from this award winning design you can apply to your organization as well.</p>
<p>Andrea Werzner, a Sr. Program Manager with the Employee Culture &amp; Communications Team at AMD, will speak to the business value delivered by the design of the intranet.</p>
<p>Robert Nellis, a Senior Consultant at Catapult Systems, will talk about some of the technical challenges the team faced during the implementation.</p>

<p>Thanks again to my hosts at the San Antonio SharePoint User Group. I had a great time. You can download my deck and the samples that I demonstrated from my <a href="/matthew/archive/2008/03/11/ecms305-advanced-search-configuration-and-management.aspx">SharePoint Conference post</a>. I have not added the information on image search that I presented last night. I am working on a three part post that will pull all of the necessary information together. </p>
